BEA's Comprehensive Java Implementation Complements Adecco's Commitment to
Open Systems

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- BEA Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BEAS),
one of the world's leading e-business infrastructure software companies, today
announced that Adecco (NYSE: ADO), the largest staffing services company in
North America, will use BEA WebLogic Commerce Server(TM) to take its core
business process on-line. Adecco will leverage the server's Java
standards-based commerce and personalization capabilities to deploy
eConnect(R), the first web-based, fully integrated staffing management system.
Through eConnect, BEA WebLogic Commerce Server enables Adecco to offer a
flexible, personalized business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce system to quickly
match qualified resources with corporate clients' staffing requirements.
Adecco's eConnect solution is designed to serve the company's corporate
clients who want to use the Internet to simplify the staffing procurement
process. Using the rich, standards-based personalization capabilities of
BEA WebLogic Commerce Server, Adecco can rapidly create customized online
catalogs and tailor the ordering experience to enhance the staffing process
for customers. A beta version of eConnect is currently undergoing tests.
BEA WebLogic Commerce Server also provides a unified customer profile,
which further simplifies and personalizes ordering by automatically supplying
and updating customer information, such as the location of a work site, or
local tax withholding requirements. Because the system learns more about a
customer with each use, Adecco clients will find a constantly improving
ability to satisfy their exact resource requirements through an increasingly
efficient process.
Adecco Chief Information Officer Dan Torunian said the functionality
created by the BEA WebLogic Commerce Server is expected to make the staffing
management process more efficient and effective for Adecco's large corporate
clients. "BEA WebLogic Commerce Server will enable us to seamlessly link a
number of key processes for our clients. And the more it is used, the more
robust the data becomes. It's tailor-made for our customers."
The Adecco eConnect system will integrate to customers' procurement
systems -- a critical requirement for many of the company's most important
clients. Customers also will have the option to access the Adecco system
directly through their Web browser or through procurement Web portals.
"eConnect represents the state-of-the-art in B2B e-commerce applications,"
said Gail Ennis, vice president of marketing, BEA E-Commerce Application
Components Division. "Innovative companies like Adecco recognize the Internet
as the most efficient channel to enhance customer satisfaction and retention.
BEA's leadership position with Java-based e-business infrastructure allows
companies to win and retain customers by rapidly deploying adaptable and
extensible applications."

BEA's Java Compliance Complements Adecco's Commitment to Open Systems
A major factor in Adecco's decision to license the award-winning
BEA WebLogic Commerce Server is its certification on the Java(TM) 2 Enterprise
Edition (J2EE)(TM) specification, which defines the standard e-commerce
platform for today's e-commerce applications. Java compliance also is the
reason Adecco selected BEA WebLogic Server(TM) as the application server
platform for its central enterprise application that matches supply and demand
and coordinates with financial systems.
"We want the solution's benefits, such as flexibility and cost of
ownership, to carry through the entire life of the application, not just
initial implementation," said Adecco's Torunian. "We are committed to Java
standards because we want an open architecture, one that will always have a
large contingent of developers and that will enable us to adapt our
applications to the evolving needs of our business and our customers. At the
same time, BEA WebLogic Commerce Server's Enterprise JavaBeans architecture
and J2EE compliance will allow us to continue to extend our Web capabilities
as the market demands."
The award-winning BEA WebLogic Commerce Server is available for download
at http://www.bea.com, and includes the BEA WebLogic Personalization Server(TM) and
the BEA WebLogic Server. The award-winning and industry-leading BEA WebLogic
Server has a proven track record as the foundation of many of the world's most
heavily trafficked e-commerce sites.
BEA has aligned with Valtech, an advanced e-business systems integrator,
to rapidly create Adecco's new commerce site.
